What is a Certified Advanced Résumé Writer?
I’m a Certified Advanced Résumé Writer (CARW). What does that mean?
The world has changed. The times when people searched for professionals based on geographical proximity to home are over. Today, the Internet has set new rules for consumers and service providers.
The best way to market yourself is to prove your talent.
What’s a CARW?
The acronym CARW stands for Certified Advanced Résumé Writer, and it is a certification offered by the international career association, Career Directors International.
Why should you hire a CARW?
Certification means that your résumé writer has been tested and found to produce work of a superior standard. A CARW is someone who observes and stays in touch with current hiring trends. When you consider that your job is one of the most important elements of your life, why wouldn’t you invest in yourself (in your résumé) to gain the best possible advantages? Your employment allows you to support your family, your lifestyle, your living expenses. It’s fair to say that much of your life depends on your employment. You see an accountant when you need expert advice on your finances. You see a doctor for expert advice on your health. So it makes sense you need to see a CARW for expert advice on your resume and employment documents.
What does this mean for you?
You can be confident that your résumé isn’t handled by a self-proclaimed expert looking to make some money on the side. It means that you are being assisted by a qualified individual who has been coached and rigorously tested through a series of exams reviewed by résumé industry leaders. I was privileged to be mentored and tested by Gayle Howard–Australia’s most highly credentialled and awarded résumé writer, acclaimed author and industry recognised leader and contributor to résumé development globally.
A Certified Advanced Résumé Writer (CARW) provides a definitive point of difference with talents that have been industry scrutinised and tested and found to be superior. As a CARW, my clients can be confident that I am:
- Ambitious in honing my craft and continuously maintaining contemporary knowledge of job-seeking trends and résumé writing strategies.
- An experienced résumé writing strategist; a professional who employs sound and tested knowledge to help job seekers secure interviews.
- A cut above the competition and have had my skills (and will continue to have them) scrutinised by industry leaders.
- Dedicated to professional development by sustaining membership in CDI and accumulating CEUs to maintain the credential.
Knowing that your résumé is one of THE most critical pieces in your marketing collateral it makes sense that you want to put your best foot forward. However, trying to write objectively about yourself can be difficult and time-consuming. The majority of job seekers’ résumés never make it past the initial screening stage because their marketing documents (their résumés), fail to position them in the best possible light. It takes skill, objective thinking, and being able to pinpoint achievements and value brought to the organisation to develop a powerful marketing document that gets noticed, generates interest, and compels the reader to contact you.
A CARW knows how to represent you best, and by mandatory recertification testing every couple of years, has to prove they are ahead of the game.
Look at your résumé objectively. Does it say competitive? Cutting edge? Contemporary? Sophisticated? If it doesn’t, then let’s talk about how I can help you achieve your career goals.
